Story about the Design: Pégase Pop presents Pegasus, the winged horse of Antiquity, through a modern Pop Art language. The design transforms the mythological horse into a bold graphic composition with strong outlines, dotted fields, flat color areas, hatched lines, stylized clouds, and dynamic lightning-like diagonals. Public Hermès scarf references describe the design as connecting Pegasus with the world of gods, Muses, springs, storms, and Zeus’s thunderbolts, while the visual treatment turns that classical subject into an energetic contemporary image.
Artist's Story: Dimitri Rybaltchenko is a Paris-based artist who has designed carrés for Hermès since 1990. His Hermès connection is also familial: his great-uncle Philippe Ledoux created many celebrated Hermès carrés in the 1950s, and his father Vladimir Rybaltchenko also created scarf designs for the maison. Rybaltchenko has described growing up around drawing through this family lineage, and Hermès notes that he has also designed watch dials and the Volt’H Maxi mobile battery.
