Story about the Design: Harnais de Cœur is based on an 1804 plate by the architects and decorators Fontaine and Percier from the Émile Hermès collection. Daiske Nomura transforms that archival equestrian source into a romantic composition of two highly ornamented horses, presenting them as a pair of lovebirds with hearts integrated into the harness decoration and even into the hoof embellishments. The Bleu Noir / Crème / Anthracite colorway gives the design strong contrast: dark horses and borderwork stand against a cream field, while gray and anthracite accents emphasize the ceremonial harness and heart-shaped details.
Artist's Story: Daiske Nomura is a designer and illustrator associated with Hermès scarf design. Hermès identifies him as born in Tokyo, raised between Japan and Europe, trained in oil painting, and later educated at Parsons School of Design in New York. After working in textile design, he returned to Japan in 2006 as a freelance designer. His Hermès collaboration began after he received a special award in a 2009 Hermès tie design competition, and his work for the maison has included carré scarves and designs inspired by objects in the Émile Hermès collection. Nomura has described drawing as the starting point of his imagination and has linked part of his style to manga and anime imagery from childhood.
