Story about the Design:
Guepards Bandana is a Double Face Carré 90 in silk twill, created with an innovative printing method so each side presents a distinct design. The “story behind” spotlights the cheetah’s run: arranged in a faceted circular composition, the stride moves from legs gathered tight (power concentrated) to a long, airborne stretch that reads as “full speed.” Built from Robert Dallet’s feline studies, the motif is presented here in a bandana-style reinterpretation.

Artist's Story:
Robert Dallet (born 1923) was a French animal artist and naturalist illustrator known for observing wildlife with close attention to behavior and anatomy. After moving from Normandy to Paris in 1952, he developed his practice through intensive study in European zoos and museums, filling notebooks with sketches; he also produced children’s books and magazine illustrations. He later collaborated for many years with Robert Wolff (“Roby”) and illustrated major wildlife encyclopedias, including a five-volume tour of the world’s fauna published by Lito (Faune d’Afrique, Faune du Nouveau Monde, Faune d’Europe, Faune d’Asie, Faune d’Australie).

In the late 1970s, Dallet undertook an ambitious project of more than 80 color plates depicting feline species and subspecies, shown in exhibitions in France. In the mid-1980s, he began his long Hermès collaboration after being invited to design a carré; his first scarf design is cited as Kenya, followed by celebrated animal-themed designs such as Équateur, Jungle Love, Sichuan, Guépards, and Tendresse Féline, and he also created designs for pareos and towels. Hermès later highlighted his work internationally through the “Fierce and Fragile: Big Cats in the Art of Robert Dallet” project and related initiatives supporting wild cat conservation.

Collector's Notes:
Collectors love this colorway because the Double Face format gives two styling moods: a light gris perle face with vivid orange accents on one side, and a brown-toned bandana reverse on the other, making it easy to switch from bright to neutral when tying.
