Story about the Design: Clic-Clac à Pois is a playful, graphic reinterpretation of Julie Abadie’s earlier Clic-Clac composition, a Hermès classic originally designed in the late 1970s. Two equestrian blinkers and six leather-sheathed riding whips, finished with rings and finely engraved silver pommels, are arranged with formal precision against a lively polka-dot ground. The title evokes the clicking and jingling of harness clasps keeping time with horses’ hooves. By placing traditional riding equipment over a vivid field of dots, the design combines Hermès’ historic saddlery heritage with a light-hearted, contemporary visual rhythm.
Artist's Story: Julie Abadie is a Franco-Hellenic artist whose collaboration with Hermès began in 1969. She created and hand-painted original scarf maquettes for the Parisian house over a career spanning more than four decades. Her work is recognised for its disciplined symmetry, finely rendered decorative objects and frequent references to Greek history, mythology and ornamental art. Her combination of scholarly detail and elegant composition made her particularly suited to Hermès’ equestrian and heritage-inspired designs.
