Story about the Design:
An enduring Hermès equestrian icon, Couvertures et Tenues de Jour arranges nine horses—each “dressed” in its day blankets and tack—within a grid formed by bridles and buckles. The central roundel is titled “pour l’écurie, l’attente et la présentation” (“for the stable, the wait, and the presentation”), a nod to the practical and ceremonial uses of horse coverings. The crème ground with rouge H and blue striped borders shown here is a classic, very wearable palette within the design’s many colorways.

Artist's Story:
Jacques Eudel was one of Hermès’ definitive 1960s–70s scarf designers, celebrated for meticulous equestrian renderings such as Grand Apparat (1962) and Les Sangles (1967). His work helped cement the house’s horse-centric visual language that traces back to Hermès’ 19th-century harness-making roots, and his designs remain perennial reissue candidates in modern collections.

Collector's Notes:
Collectors prize early and crisp colorways as well as neutral grounds like crème, which pair beautifully with tan and gold leather. The design has appeared across formats (90 carré, GM 140, triangle, twilly and the recent double-face/Bandana versions), with subtle cartouche variations noted on some earlier reissues. Community threads also track sought-after combinations and seasonal palettes; crème/rouge H/bleu is consistently highlighted for versatility.
