Story about the Design: Based on the Les Chevaux Déchaînés scarf design, this shawl presents two spirited horses facing one another. At first glance, the silhouettes appear like fine pencil drawings, but the composition is actually built from Hermès equestrian elements: buckles, chains, stirrups and straps, inspired by historic illustrated albums and catalogues from the Émile Hermès collection. The result is a refined equestrian trompe-l’oeil design that brings Hermès saddle-making heritage into a soft cashmere and silk shawl.
Artist's Story: Octave Marsal is a French drawing artist born in 1990. He studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in London, graduating in 2014, then completed a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art in 2017. His work is known for precise, highly detailed line drawing, cumulative compositions, architectural references and imagined utopian worlds. Hermès has collaborated with Marsal on several scarf designs, including equestrian and architectural themes that translate his meticulous drawing language into silk and cashmere.
