Story about the Design: Cavalcadour Morning brings together two Hermès design worlds. Henri d’Origny’s original Cavalcadour composition transforms equestrian harness pieces, bits, straps and bridle details into elegant ornamental curves. Nigel Peake, an architect by training, reinterprets the design with the graphic rhythm of Morning, adding rectilinear structures, striped planes and architectural movement. The result is a bold cashmere-silk shawl where classic Hermès equestrian heritage meets a modern, geometric visual language.
Artist's Story: Henri d’Origny is one of the great creative figures of Hermès. He joined Hermès in 1958 and became closely associated with the Maison’s equestrian visual identity, designing scarves, ties, watches, jewellery and other objects. His work often turns saddlery, harnesses, reins and bits into refined graphic compositions. Nigel Peake is an Irish artist, illustrator and architect whose hand-drawn style is known for rhythmic lines, built environments, gardens, houses and geometric structures. His own archive credits Cavalcadour Morning as a Hermès design by Henri d’Origny and Nigel Peake.
