Story about the Design:
Thalassa takes its name from the Greek goddess of the sea. Pierre Péron arranged small boats into an interlocking composition, bringing a maritime subject into the language of graphic design. In Noir, Naturel and Miel, the contrast of black, natural tones and honey gives the motif a restrained warmth. The generous shawl format lets the nautical pattern unfold across the shoulders or reveal smaller sections when folded.
Artist's Story:
Pierre Péron (1905–1988) was a French painter, illustrator and graphic artist closely connected to Brest and Brittany. His work ranged from posters and engravings to illustrations, combining a lively line with humour and poetry. His designs for Hermès carried this graphic sensibility into silk scarves, with Thalassa reflecting the maritime world that also informed his wider artistic work.
