Artist's Story:
Pierre Marie (born 1982) is a Paris-based artist-decorator who describes himself as an “ornemaniste,” devoted to hand-drawn ornament and narrative pattern. A long-standing Hermès collaborator since 2009, he has created more than thirty silk carrés for the house and developed motifs that translate across ready-to-wear and lifestyle collections. Beyond silk, his studio practice spans applied arts—Aubusson-woven tapestries and rugs, stained glass, lighting, and ceramics—executed with master artisans. For Hermès he has also designed architectural decorative elements, including stained-glass installations, reflecting the maison’s emphasis on craft and materiality. His imagery draws on nature, history, folklore and the Émile Hermès archives, rendered with meticulous linework and layered color separations suited to demanding techniques like screen-printed silk and fired enamel. The result is exuberant, finely detailed compositions that adapt elegantly to the circular geometry of rigid bangles.

Story about the Design:
Conceived by Pierre Marie in 2012, Point d’Orgue is a tribute to the grandeur of the pipe organ and to musical ornament. The carré composition assembles ranks of organ pipes with keyboards, bellows, bells and a regulator clock into a theatrical “bouquet,” echoing 18th-century engravings from historic organ-building treatises. On the rigid bangle, the motif is expertly cropped so vertical pipe arrays and ornamental medallions read as rhythmic stripes around the wrist, the deep purple ground heightening the architecture and giving the piece its ceremonial, octave-rich character.

Craftsmanship Note:
Hermès printed enamel bangles are formed from a precision-made metal base for rigidity and roundness, then coated with vitreous enamel layers that are fired for durability and a high-gloss finish. Motifs are adapted from Hermès scarf art and applied with meticulous register so patterns meet cleanly at the join. Rims are plated—here in palladium—for a bright, silver-tone edge that resists tarnish. Interiors are smoothed and polished for comfort, and each piece is inspected to ensure crisp color, sharp linework, and balanced symmetry.
