Artist's Story:
Henri d’Origny is one of the most influential long-tenured creators associated with Hermès’ graphic language—an “insider” artist whose work spans silk, objects, and watch design. He joined the maison in 1958 at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and is credited with shaping a large portion of the modern Hermès visual vocabulary across multiple departments.

While widely recognized for his silk output, d’Origny’s importance goes beyond scarves: he designed the Arceau watch in 1978 (with its equestrian DNA and signature stirrup-inspired details), and he later created the first Cape Cod in 1991—another enduring Hermès icon.

His approach is often described as disciplined yet playful—highly legible linework, equestrian references, and a taste for motifs that read like refined “graphic objects.” A famous early chapter of his career at Hermès includes developing tie patterns from small illustrative motifs linked to the horse world and nautical life—an idea that helped define Hermès ties as recognizably Hermès.

Story about the Design:
“Caval d’Or / Cavald’Or” is an equestrian-gear inspired composition—an allover pattern built from tack and hardware codes (buckle/strap elements and related riding motifs) translated into bold, wearable enamel.
On the wide enamel format, the design reads like a miniature “carré” wrapped around the wrist: a graphic band of riding-heritage symbols with a crisp plated rim that frames the color story and sharpens contrast.

Collector's Notes:
Caval d’Or pieces appeal strongly to Hermès heritage collectors because the motif sits directly in the maison’s saddle-and-harness DNA, yet presents as modern graphic jewelry.
The 19 mm wide format is a classic “statement stacker” width: substantial enough to read from across the room, but still comfortable to pair with fine bracelets or a watch.
Size 65 is one of the most wearable inner diameters for many wrists; please compare the stated inner diameter and computed circumference to your preferred fit.

Craftsmanship Note:
Hermès printed enamel bangles are built by applying and firing enamel (a glass-based material) onto a rigid metal base, then finishing the surface for clarity, depth, and a smooth hand-feel. The plated rim is precision-finished to create a crisp boundary between enamel and metal, helping protect the edge visually while elevating the bracelet’s “jewel” presence. Palladium plating delivers a cool silver-tone sheen that complements blue/pink palettes and resists the warm cast of yellow plating.
