Artist's Story:
Julie Abadie began her collaboration with Hermès in 1969 and created numerous hand-painted scarf designs for the house. Her work is recognized for disciplined symmetry, finely observed decorative objects and compositions inspired by historical, ornamental and equestrian sources. Hermès identifies Abadie as the designer of the original Clic-Clac composition and its later heritage adaptations.

Story about the Design:
Clic-Clac à Pois is a playful, graphic reinterpretation of Julie Abadie’s late-1970s Clic-Clac composition. Its equestrian arrangement features two leather blinkers and six late-19th-century English horsewhips with blackthorn handles, silver rings and pommels, inspired by objects in the Émile Hermès collection. The à pois treatment overlays this precise composition with lively dots and color, while the title evokes the clicking and jingling of harness clasps in rhythm with horses’ hooves.

Collector's Notes:
The Clic-Clac à Pois interpretation was first documented as a 70 cm scarf edition in 2012, while archived enamel bracelet examples are identified with the 2013 collection. Because the supplied Q hallmark has no visible enclosing shape, the enamel-bangle dating rule for a modern motif supports the square-era Q year and therefore circa 2013 (inferred), rather than the historically earlier plain-letter reading. Later Clic-Clac à Pois bracelet editions are documented for 2015 and 2018.
